The aim of this introductory course is to give the participant a basic to an intermediate understanding of precision technologies available to the agricultural industry, to then gain an insight into how digital farming techniques can ultimately maximise business profitability within a farming enterprise by using precision and digital tools.

Content

Classroom module 1:

The day will predominately be theoretical based sessions, with opportunities to look at static based machines; The course will allow the participant to apply their knowledge gained in the theoretical part of the training day to making future business decisions on adopting precision and digital technologies.

The theoretical sessions will aim to cover the following:

  • An introduction to the equipment, tools and skills needed to implement precision farming technologies including mapping and imaging technologies, variable rate applications and GPS guidance systems
  • Best practice approaches to integrating the data generated by precision systems into agronomic decisions by using telematic software, and farm management systems
  • The costs and benefits associated with precision technologies to a farming business
