Introducing nutrition and legislation

  • Plant Physiology and Crop Nutrition, the role of nutrients in crop health
  • Macro and Micro Nutrition management and importance
  • Sources of Nutritional Advice
  • Nutritional sources and their application
    • Understanding the N, P,K content of products
  • Regulations
    • Nitrate vulnerable zones (NVZ) and practical implications
    • RB209 Maximun dose rates

Learning outcomes

At the end of this course, you will understand:
• Role and forms of nitrogen, phosphate, potassium, magnesium and sulphur
• How to use the Fertiliser Manual (RB209) for combinable crop nutrient planning
• Alternative recommendation systems
• The use and contribution of organic manures
• The NVZ regulations in relation to nitrogen use on farm
• The use of nutrient sampling and testing
• The symptoms of macro and micronutrient deficiencies and their treatment
